DONATE TO PRO-LIFE WISCONSIN'S LIFE SAVING WORK
A POST-ROE WISCONSIN

(Pro-Life Wisconsin Blog)The United States Supreme Court is on the precipice of overturning its most egregious ruling: Roe v. Wade. After 49 years and over sixty million slain, it is far past time Roe be tossed upon the ash heap of history. I am of course referring to the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization pending the United States Supreme Court decision. The high court is considering Mississippi’s abortion ban, which prohibits abortion after 15 weeks gestation. Regrettably, the Mississippi law provides an exception for medical emergencies and severe fetal abnormalities. Nevertheless, the Supreme Court will answer the question: “Are all pre-viability abortion bans unconstitutional?” Fetal viability is generally accepted as around 24 weeks gestation.

With Dobbs, it is a strong possibility that the Supreme Court could overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey and remand the abortion issue back to the states. Abortion would no longer be a constitutional “right” but an issue to be democratically addressed by state legislatures and congress, as Justice Kavanaugh suggested in oral arguments last December.

Concerning Roe, we know the so-called “right to privacy” is a court-ordered “right,” not a constitutional right, and that with it our high court forced abortion on demand down our nation’s throat. But more fundamentally, the court denied the protection of personhood to those most in need of it – our tiny preborn brothers and sisters. To be sure, the central premise of Roe is that the unborn child is NOT a person within the meaning of the law.

If the Supreme Court overturns Roe and Casey and sends the abortion issue back to the states, it is critical that we be prepared to protect every preborn child in Wisconsin from the moment of conception. This will require two, and possibly three, state legislative actions...
PRO-LIFE WISCONSIN WELCOMES
FIRST YOUTH AFFILIATE: PRISM

Last week, Liam, a high school student in Milwaukee, signed the paperwork for his new pro-life club to be an official affiliate with Pro-Life Wisconsin. Pro-Life Students of Milwaukee, also known as PRISM, is the first ever youth affiliate for Pro-Life Wisconsin. Their contact list includes over 15 high schools in the greater Milwaukee area and continues to grow! In their own words:

"Many high schoolers are pro-life but lack knowledge of how to oppose abortion practically. Most high schools do not have a pro-life club, so if given this opportunity to stand for life, they would participate. This club seeks to organize pro-life youth and direct them towards causes in need of help."

We are elated to promote a culture of life here in Wisconsin with these young leaders! To financially support this new affiliate, visit our giving page here and make a donation in honor of PRISM. If you are interested in becoming more involved in the pro-life movement, contact Corrie Christiaansen, Outreach Director, at Corrie.C@ProLifeWI.org.

PRO-LIFE NEWS

ABORTION FOES PUSH TO NARROW ‘LIFE OF MOTHER’ EXCEPTIONS: (The Washington Post) – “(Matt) Sande, from Pro-Life Wisconsin, which supports abortion bans with no exceptions, said he recognizes the challenges posed by such measures. But he feels strongly that laws should recognize that pregnancies involve two lives — not one — and that doctors should be required to put equal effort into saving both mother and fetus in medical crises.” Read the full story here. (PLW NOTE: See a statement from the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists [AAPLOG] concerning abortion and the life-of-the-mother.)

EXTREME ABORTION BILL CODIFYING ‘ROE’ FAILS TO PASS THE SENATE: (Live Action) – “Earlier this week, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced he would force a vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), despite the knowledge that it would very likely fail. With some key senators, like Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) voting no, the bill did, in fact, fail, in a 49-51 vote.” Read the full story here.

JUSTICE ALITO SAYS SUPREME COURT NOT INTIMIDATED BY PRO-ABORTION VIOLENCE: “WE’RE DOING OUR WORK”: (LifeNews.com) – “Radical abortion advocates across the country are engaging in violence, firebombing pro-life groups, vandalizing and disrupting churches, forcing pregnancy centers to close and staging intimidating protests outside the homes of members of the Supreme Court. But Justice Samuel Alito, author of the draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, says he and his colleagues will not be intimidated.” Read the full story here.
