PRO-LIFE NEWS

ABORTION COULD BECOME WIDELY AVAILABLE IN WISCONSIN IN COMING MONTHS, LAWYERS AND DOCTORS SAY: (Wisconsin State Journal) – “Abortion could become widely available in Wisconsin in the coming months now that a Dane County judge has signaled her willingness to issue an order prohibiting prosecutors from using an 1849 law to go after abortion providers, lawyers and abortion providers told the Wisconsin State Journal. Dane County Circuit Judge Diane Schlipper ruled in early July that the 1849 law widely interpreted as a near-complete abortion ban doesn’t apply to abortions at all. She also said that the physicians who joined the lawsuit seeking to reinstate abortion rights in Wisconsin could request a declaration that one of the defendants, Sheboygan County District Attorney Joel Urmanski, can’t prosecute them under the 1849 law. An attorney for the physicians previously said they would seek such an order.” Read the full story here.

ILLINOIS GOVERNOR SIGNS BILL SILENCING PREGNANCY RESOURCE CENTERS: (Live Action) – “Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed a bill on Thursday that effectively targets pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) from helping abortion-minded women. Senate Bill 1909, the ‘Deceptive Practices of Limited Services Pregnancy Centers Act’ allows the state attorney general to take action against any PRC for ‘deceptive action’ in dissuading a woman from abortion. Violators could be fined up to $50,000. However, the bill does not specify what ‘deceptive actions’ entail. According to Illinois Right to Life, the Deputy Attorney General for Policy repeatedly refused to define ‘deceptive’ as it pertains to the bill during a spring hearing, saying only ‘we would evaluate each complaint on a case-by-case basis.’” Read the full story here.

NEW STUDY SUPPORTING ABORTION PILL REVERSAL FINALLY PUBLISHED FOLLOWING SETBACKS: (LifeSiteNews) – “A research paper on abortion pill reversal written by a professor at a Catholic university has been accepted by an academic journal after months of challenges and rejection due to the subject of the report. Dr. Stephen Sammut, a neuroscientist who works as a professor of psychology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio, told LifeSiteNews that his scientific study was finally accepted by the academic journal Scientific Reports after facing rejection elsewhere during the peer-review process. The study supports the potential for using the hormone progesterone to reverse the effects of mifepristone, a drug used for chemically induced abortions.” Read the full story here.

THE WORLD MEDICAL ASSOCIATION SUBTLY EVISCERATES CONSCIENCE RIGHTS:
(National Review) – “The World Medical Association has published a revised ‘International Code of Medical Ethics’ that is intended as ‘a canon of ethical principles for the members of the medical profession worldwide.’ Most of it is fine. […] But, problematically, the WMA has eviscerated medical conscience rights in a way that would compel doctors to engage in interventions and actions to which they are morally or religiously opposed. It doesn’t do this blatantly, but subtly.” Read the full story here.
