JUDGE BLOCKS ILLINOIS LAW TARGETING PRO-LIFE CENTERS THAT REFUSE TO COMMIT ABORTIONS: (LifeSiteNews) – “In a victory for freedom of speech and alternatives to abortion, a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction Thursday against an Illinois law classifying pro-life pregnancy resource centers as ‘unfair methods’ of assisting expectant mothers. […] ‘Free Speech won today in the Land of Lincoln—pro-life advocates across Illinois can breathe a sigh of relief they won’t be pursued for ‘misinformation’ by Attorney General Kwame Raoul,’ said Thomas More Executive Vice President and Head of Litigation Peter Breen. ‘Across the nation, pregnancy help ministries are being discriminated against by laws that target their life-affirming work. LOUISIANA PRIEST PREACHES FIERY HOMILY ON DIVINE JUDGMENT JUST DAYS BEFORE FATAL CAR ACCIDENT: (LifeSiteNews) – “Father Mark Beard, pastor at St. Helena Catholic Church in Amite, Louisiana, who died tragically in a car accident on Wednesday, Aug. 2, preached a stirring last homily on the need to unapologetically accept and live by the Catholic faith with a view toward the day we stand before God in judgment. ‘You and I have got to stop apologizing for being Catholic. You need to learn your faith … you need to know the truth and I’m gonna tell you, I am not going to stand before Him and say, ‘Well, Lord, I would have pitched it, but, you know, there’s going to be pushback,’ because now that sin’s on me.’ […] Addressing common objections to the Church’s teaching on abortion touted by ‘Catholic’ politicians and voters alike, Fr. Beard said, ‘Tell me, as a Catholic, are there exceptions to abortion, like rape and incest? Absolutely not, there are no exceptions. You don’t think they had rape and incest in the time of Christ?’ Beard challenged. ‘You don’t think they had that going on? OHIO MUST PASS ISSUE 1 TO STOP KILLING BABIES IN ABORTIONS UP TO BIRTH: (LifeNews.com, by Frank Pavone) – “The abortion battle in Ohio is hotter than ever. Voters in Ohio are already casting their ballots for ‘Issue 1’ to be decided on Aug. 8, 2023. The measure would increase the threshold for amending the state’s Constitution, from 50% plus one to 60%. How does this relate to abortion? In November of 2023 voters will decide whether to amend the Ohio Constitution to explicitly include a right to abortion. This, of course, would put into the Ohio Constitution a ‘right” which the Supreme Court, in its decision, in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, just pointed out was never asserted in American constitutional history, in any of the 50 states, until Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973). Now it’s possible, through the slick ads and soundbites that can make citizens believe they are voting for their very survival, that the abortion lobby could get more than 50% of the citizens to vote ‘Yes’ on such an amendment.
