NOT ON BALLOT, ABORTION STILL DRIVES VOTERS: (AP News) – “Abortion wasn't technically on the ballot in Ohio's special election. But the overwhelming defeat of a measure that would have made it tougher to enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution this fall was the latest indicator that the issue remains a powerful force at the ballot box. The election saw record turnout for what's typically a sleepy August election date and sets up another battle in November, when Ohio will be the only state this year to have reproductive rights on the ballot. It also gives hope to Democrats and other abortion rights supporters who say the matter could sway voters their way again in 2024. That's when it could affect races for president, Congress and statewide offices, and when places such as the battleground of Arizona may put abortion questions on their ballots as well.” Read the full story here.

NIKKI HALEY ATTACKS REPUBLICAN SENATOR’S EFFORT TO STOP BIDEN PENTAGON FROM FUNDING ABORTIONS: (LifeSiteNews) – “Republican presidential candidate and former Trump administration ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley criticized U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) on Tuesday for putting a hold on the confirmation of all nominees to U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) positions until the Biden administration backs down on its insistence on subsidizing abortions in the military.” Read the full story here.

CALIFORNIA ASSISTED SUICIDE DEATHS SURGE AS HUNDREDS MORE PEOPLE KILLED: (LifeNews.com, by Euthanasia Prevention Coalition) – “The 2022 California assisted suicide report indicates that the number of assisted suicide deaths increased by more than 63% and the number of prescriptions for lethal drugs increasing by 47% from the 2021 report. As with previous years, the report implies that the deaths were voluntary (self-administered), but the information in the report does not address that subject. In 2022 there were 853 reported assisted suicide deaths and 1,270 lethal cocktail prescriptions written which was up from 522 reported assisted suicide deaths and 863 lethal prescriptions written in 2021.” Read the full story here.

VICTORY FOR LIFE ADVOCATES AS WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NEW YORK, BURSTS ABORTION BUBBLE ZONE: (Thomas More Society) – “Pro-life advocates are declaring a victory in Westchester County, New York, after the County Board of Legislators voted, at their August 7, 2023 meeting, to repeal an unconstitutional 8-foot ‘floating bubble zone’ around persons entering or leaving abortion facilities to ‘protect’ them from the ‘approaches’ of pro-life sidewalk counselors—who seek to converse and offer literature on life-affirming alternatives to abortion.” Read the full story here.
