PRO-LIFE WISCONSIN FILES COMPLAINTS WITH LICENSING AGENCY AGAINST DOCTORS RESUMING ABORTIONS

(Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, by Jessie Opoien): After being rebuffed by local law enforcement, an official with one of Wisconsin's largest anti-abortion groups has filed complaints with the state's licensing agency against doctors who provide abortions in the weeks after Planned Parenthood resumed those services.

The move comes as advocates on both sides disagree over whether abortion is currently legal in Wisconsin, following a July court order signaling a Dane County judge believes an 1849 law that has been interpreted as a near-total ban on abortion does not, in fact, ban consensual abortions.

"We just felt we had no other course of action other than to go after the doctors that are actually doing it," Miller said. "They’re publicly flouting the law; they’re breaking the law. … So, if nobody else will try to enforce the law, maybe the Medical Examining Board will enforce (the state's 1849 abortion law)."

"I’m sure all of (the doctors) have medical malpractice insurance," Miller continued. "I’m sure all of those medical malpractice insurance carriers would love to find out whether their doctors are actually following the law."

Miller filed the complaints after Pro-Life Wisconsin, Wisconsin Right to Life and Wisconsin Family Action held a news conference at the state Capitol last week calling on Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne and Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm to prosecute doctors who provide abortions. Both have said they will not.

CALIFORNIA SUES ANTI-ABORTION ORGANIZATIONS FOR UNPROVEN TREATMENT TO REVERSE MEDICATION ABORTIONS: (AP News) – “California Attorney General Rob Bonta on Thursday sued an anti-abortion group and a chain of anti-abortion counseling centers, saying the organizations misled women when they offered them unproven treatments to reverse medication abortions. […] In an email to The Associated Press, Heartbeat International said it learned about the lawsuit through interview requests and that it had not been served. ‘These women deserve the right to try and save their pregnancies. REPUBLICANS JOIN FORCES TO REPEAL FACE ACT, LAW USED TO TARGET PRO-LIFE ACTIVISTS: (National Review): “President Joe Biden weaponized the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act to target pro-life activists, Senator Mike Lee (R., Utah) and Representative Chip Roy (R., Texas) said on Wednesday, which is why the pair introduced legislation to repeal the act. […] ‘Our Constitution reserved general police power to the states. Congress infringed on the states’ police power when they passed the FACE Act,’ Lee said. ‘The Biden DOJ has weaponized this constitutionally suspect law against pro-life sidewalk counselors while failing to protect pregnancy centers and churches from violent attacks. THE SUPREME COURT REFUSED TO HEAR DAVID DALEIDEN’S CRITICAL APPEALS, BUT THE FIGHT ISN’T OVER: (LifeSiteNews, by Thomas More Society) – “This week, the U.S. Supreme Court unfortunately declined to review our two appeals for David Daleiden’s cases against Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation.
