CONGRATULATIONS PRO-LIFE ELECTS!

Pro-Life Wisconsin congratulates our endorsed candidates victorious on Election Day. We are grateful for their principled and hard-fought campaigns.

A strong pro-life majority was retained in the State Assembly and the pro-life majority was increased in the State Senate. As we begin a new legislative session in 2021 and look to unseat pro-abortion Governor Evers in 2022, we want to thank all our supporters who assisted our candidates with their time, treasure, and prayers. Together, we will continue to build a culture of life in Wisconsin!

CHOOSE NEW LEADERS

The Senate Republican Caucus on Thursday elected Sen. Devin LeMahieu (R-Oostburg) as Majority Leader, replacing outgoing Sen. Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) who was elected Tuesday to the U.S. House of Representatives. Senate Republicans also elected Sen. Chris Kapenga (R-Delafield) as Senate President. Pro-Life Wisconsin congratulates Senators LeMahieu and Kapenga on their new leadership posts and looks forward to working with them this coming session. Both are strongly pro-life, with Sen. Kapenga having been awarded PLW’s Legislator of the Year in 2017. Senate Republicans will enjoy a commanding 21-12 majority in the new year.
ASSEMBLY SPEAKER VOS DIRECTS CAMPAIGNS AND ELECTIONS COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE ELECTION ADMINISTRATION

State Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) has directed Rep. Ron Tusler (R-Harrison), chairman of the Committee on Campaigns and Elections, to investigate how last Tuesday’s election was administered. The Committee has the power to subpoena persons, documents, and records.

“I am directing the committee to use its investigatory powers under Wisconsin SS 13.31 to immediately review how the election was administered,” said Vos in a statement. “With concerns surfacing about mail-in ballot dumps and voter fraud, Wisconsin citizens deserve to know their vote counted. There should be no question as to whether the vote was fair and legitimate, and there must be absolute certainty that the impending recount finds any and all irregularities.”

Pro-Life Wisconsin supports this effort in the interest of a free a fair election process.
“It’s important for us to answer the questions that Wisconsinites have about this election,” Tusler said in an interview. “Transparency is incredibly important with a very close election like we just had. We just want to get down to the bottom of some of the questions that are being asked.”

YOU MADE HISTORY IN THIS 40 DAYS FOR LIFE

48 babies saved from abortion during this campaign!  Thank You, Lord!

48 saves are the most we’ve ever seen in the entire history of the 40 Days for Life campaign since it started in 2008. The previous record of most babies saved was in the fall of 2013 with 41 babies saved. I know many of you were there BOTH times the record was broke, but it took a lot of work and perseverance in-between to get to where we are today. Showing up every day is how we got here, so let’s keep that going!

We’d like to thank all our prayer warriors, sidewalk counselors and clergy who came out, day after day, to stand in the gap for the preborn. A special note of thanks to September Schubilske, the Milwaukee campaign’s coordinator and Therese Aukofer, Program Director at PLW who served as co-coordinator. Thank you both for your hard work and dedication!

I remember one time, way back in the Spring 2013 campaign, I asked a friend when he thought the abortion center would close for good. He said, “No one knows, but God does. All I know is that with each passing day, we are closer to seeing this place close down for good.” We are still waiting. Lord, hear our prayer!
BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN VIRTUAL FUNDRAISER

Crisis pregnancies happen all the time whether there is a pandemic or not but especially now, women need a supportive community to choose life for their preborn baby. The temptation of abortion is even greater in these difficult times. Sadly, many women are vulnerable in a crisis pregnancy to pursue an abortion.

We know that moms choose life because of the help that they receive from PLW’s Helping Both: Pregnancy Support Program. We work with local Pregnancy Resource Centers to save the life of the baby and heal the hearts of hurting moms. Helping Both fills the gap and changes lives.

We know that in this time, unemployment has affected families and limited their access to childcare, and education. It has stretched family resources and their ability to pay rent and/or their monthly bills. Our Helping Both Program fills the gap for families and gives the hope that moms in crisis pregnancies so desperately need. Your financial support means you are there for moms and their babies after birth too. Through the Helping Both Program, families have received food, gas, baby clothes, rent assistance, appliances, and financial assistance for their education. These are just a few of the ways this program has made a difference in the lives of pregnant moms in crisis.

Your generosity in this virtual baby bottle campaign provides the financial resources to continue supporting families in need. Please give generously today!

DID YOU KNOW...

On March 27, 2020, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law. The CARES Act increases tax deductions for charitable donations for both individuals and corporations for tax year 2020. You may wish to consider the following provisions when determining your charitable giving this year:

Individuals who do not itemize their tax deductions may take a new "above the line" charitable deduction of $300 per taxpayer ($600 for a married couple). An "above the line" deduction reduces a donor's adjusted gross income and thereby reduces taxable income.

Individuals who do itemize may deduct donations up to 100% of their 2020 AGI, up from the previous limit of 60%.

Corporations may deduct up to 25% of taxable income, up from the previous limit of 10%.

To qualify for these special deductions, contributions must be made during tax year 2020. Payments on outstanding pledges also qualify, provided the payment is made in 2020.

PRO-LIFE NEWS

6 OUT OF 8 COVID-19 VACCINES ARE UNETHICAL: (Personhood Alliance) – “Operation Warp Speed, the aptly named fast-track program to bring a COVID-19 vaccine to market in the US, promises to turn the tide in the devastation brought on by the coronavirus. But 6 of the 8 current vaccine candidates are unethical, either because they were produced using aborted fetal cells, are being tested using aborted fetal cells, or both. It’s time for the pro-life movement to stand in unity to demand an end to the abhorrent practice of commodifying pre-born human beings.” Read the full story here.

TRUMP PROMOTES ADOPTION AS ALTERNATIVE TO ABORTION FOR NATIONAL ADOPTION MONTH: (Live Action) – "On October 30, President Donald Trump recognized November as National Adoption Month, promoting adoption as an alternative to abortion. 'During National Adoption Month, we recognize birth families who make the difficult decision to place their children up for adoption, commend foster parents who care for children from different backgrounds, and celebrate adoptive parents who open their families to those children in need.'" The National Black Pro-life Coalition recently filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, accusing the abortion chain of decades of racial discrimination.” Read the full story here.

PERSONHOOD CANDIDATE WINS ALASKA STATE HOUSE SEAT: (Personhood Alliance) – “Despite opposition from his own party, Christopher Kurka, founding board member of the Personhood Alliance and former executive director of Personhood Alliance affiliate Alaska Right to Life, was elected to the Alaska House of Representatives.
