GOV. EVERS JOINS LAWSUIT ASKING STATE SUPREME COURT TO FIND RIGHT TO ABORTION ACCESS: (WKOW Channel 27 Madison) –
“Gov. Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul, both Democrats, announced Wednesday that they would file in support of a lawsuit that seeks to have Wisconsin's highest court identify a right to abortion access in the state constitution. The lawsuit, brought by Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, is currently before the Wisconsin Supreme Court. […] The Planned Parenthood lawsuit seeks to bar an abortion ban from ever going into effect in Wisconsin without first changing the state constitution. […] Pro-Life Wisconsin advocates for restricting abortion access in the state. Its organizers spoke out against the state joining the Planned Parenthood lawsuit. ‘What the governor is doing is out of step with how Wisconsin has viewed the abortion issue for so long,’ Teresa Wolfe, Pro-Life Wisconsin’s communication director, said. ‘And not just viewed it, but how we've regulated and how we've criminalized the abortion issue.’”

WISCONSIN RNC DELEGATION PUTS DIFFERENCES ASIDE ON ABORTION: (Wisconsin Examiner) –
“Shortly before the platform approval, a small group of anti-abortion activists, including members of Live
Action, a national anti-abortion nonprofit, and Pro-Life Wisconsin, gathered at Haymarket Square Park outside of the fence surrounding the RNC to object to the platform. Protesters carried signs that said ‘Protect life in platform!’ and red heart balloons that stated ‘Protect them both.’ As the protest was just starting, however, several participants learned that a group of delegates, who had planned to attempt to reinsert stronger abortion language into the platforms, were dropping the challenge in light of the Pennsylvania shooting. When the platform was later approved in a voice vote, only a few ‘No’s could be heard from delegates. Pro-Life Wisconsin Legislative Director Matt Sande said the event was changing from one of ‘encouragement’ to one of ‘total protestation.’ […] The platform is meant to be an opportunity to lay out the party’s aspirations and goals, Sande said.”

SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES RATTLE TRUMP ON ABORTION AHEAD OF GOP CONVENTION: (USA Today) –“As Republicans flock to Milwaukee for their 2024 convention, evangelicals and other social conservatives are jittery about their
waning influence and could end up spoiling Donald Trump's bash. That's because for the first time in four decades - since the GOP agenda aligned with the so-called ‘Moral Majority’ - the party's commitment to opposing abortion in its national platform just got slimmed down. ‘For decades, passionate pro-life activists have been the grassroots backbone of the Republican Party,’ Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, said in a statement. ‘They believed the Republican Party had an ironclad commitment to protect the unborn. This alliance is at risk of being severely weakened next week in Milwaukee.’ […] Gail Ruzicka, an RNC platform committee member from Utah who has attended the convention since 1992, didn't vote for the platform because of the absence of such language."

SIDEWALK COUNSELING NEWS

Sidewalk counselors reported ONE precious LIFE saved from abortion last week, July 14th-20th, 2024.
On Thursday we got news that a couple had gone into an abortion center but later visited a pregnancy resource center and told one of our sidewalk counselors that the baby was going to be OK! Praise God!
We need YOU to help save preborn lives!
