DONATE TO PRO-LIFE WISCONSIN'S LIFE SAVING WORK
HONORING THE LIFE OF JOE SCHEIDLER

Today we mourn with the world upon the passing of Joseph M. Scheidler. I’m sure Joe was as disappointed as I was about the March for Life in Washington DC cancelling. Now he will get one last march, as thousands I’m sure, will want to flock to his funeral to say their goodbyes.

I want to extend my deepest condolences to Joe’s wife, Ann and the entire Scheidler family on behalf of Pro-Life Wisconsin and all our supporters. I can’t say enough about how he helped our organization at critical times. To me, Joe was a legend, but he was also a friend. He was the kind of person who could make you feel so welcomed—like you were the only person in the room. One of Joe’s favorite Latin phrases was “ora et labora” – work and pray, the motto of the Benedictine Order.

If it were not for the work of Joe Scheidler, there may not have been a pro-life movement. Joe’s work could fill many books – in fact it has! One of my most favorite Joe Scheidler stories was when he brought in Saint (Mother) Teresa of Calcutta to speak at one of Pro-Life Action League’s fundraising dinners. When she walked up to the podium (set up for Joe, who easily stood six feet four inches), you couldn’t see her, as she stood five feet tall. Joe grabbed a box of his books that he’d be selling after the dinner and placed them behind the podium for her, so she stood on that and delivered an unforgettable speech. Joe always said with a smile that those books are now a third-class relic!

Requiescat en pace, Joseph M. Scheidler. The work is not done, so we will continue on in the fields of the Lord, always remembering you.

- Dan Miller, State Director of Pro-Life Wisconsin

PLW VICTORY FUND PAC ENDORSES
DON PRIDEMORE FOR STATE SENATE SPECIAL ELECTION

The Pro-Life Wisconsin Victory Fund Political Action Committee (PAC) has proudly endorsed former Republican State Representative
Don Pridemore in the 13th Senate District (SD) special election. The 13th SD, located in parts of Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Jefferson, Washington, and Waukesha counties, includes the cities of Oconomowoc, Watertown, Columbus, and Beaver Dam, as well as the villages of Cambridge, Marshall, and Lomira.

Former Rep. Pridemore was named Pro-Life Wisconsin’s Legislator of the Year in 2011. We want to bring Don’s steadfast, compassionate pro-life voice and leadership to the State Senate.

A Wisconsin State Senate special primary election will be held on Tuesday, February 16, in the 13th Senate District. The Republican primary election will likely confirm the next state senator from the 13th District, as the district is solidly conservative.
For those of you who live in the 13th SD, the February 16th primary election is too important to miss. Plan to exercise your right to vote and encourage your family and friends to do the same. Vote for life, and may God bless Wisconsin!

FOND DU LAC CITY COUNCIL
REJECTS PRO-LIFE PROCLAMATION

On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, much to the disappointment of many city residents, Fond du Lac City Council President Brian Kolstad denied the request to proclaim January as Pro-Life Month in the city of Fond du Lac, stating the following, as described in the Fond du Lac Reporter:

“Today I will exercise this privilege to not present this proclamation,” Kolstad said. “I am not required to give a reason, but in my opinion this proclamation has value only as a political statement with little or no value in building good will in the community.”

At the request of a large group of individuals from Pro-Life Wisconsin’s Fond du Lac County affiliate, the proclamation was submitted to the council in June 2020 by council member, Dan Degner. The submission of the pro-life proclamation followed shortly after members of the Fond du Lac City Council proclaimed June as Pride Month for LGBTQ equality.

City Council President Kolstad is now choosing to deny even presenting a pro-life proclamation, citing that it is explicitly political in nature and has little to no value to the community. Read more here.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD STOPS ABORTIONS BY MAIL AFTER SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS TRUMP’S PRO-LIFE RULE: (LifeNews.com) – “This week’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling upholding the FDA requirement that banned the mailed distribution of abortion drugs is already having a positive impact on Pennsylvania. Planned Parenthood Keystone has removed from its website a page touting abortions by mail. The abortion giant openly avowed that abortions by mail were designed to expand abortion in the Keystone State. But with the Supreme Court’s FDA v. American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists decision, Planned Parenthood has obviously been forced to rethink its latest abortion marketing ploy.” Read the full story here.

CONNECTICUT LAWMAKERS INTRODUCE ASSISTED SUICIDE BILL AGAIN: (Live Action News) – “According to the Hartford Courant, Connecticut lawmakers will again introduce an assisted suicide bill despite multiple failures to pass similar legislation beginning in 2013 — none of which made it out of committee […] Opponents say it will codify lethal disability discrimination into law. ‘Some people will get suicide prevention and others suicide assistance, and the difference will be based on their disability status,’ said Stephen Mendelsohn, member of Second Thoughts Connecticut which opposes assisted suicide legislation.” Read the full story here.
